2017 Day-By-Day

Day 72

I’m trying something new and responding to a writing prompt.

In no more than 200 words, explain who you are.

I am an only child of a single mother. Because of that, I had to learn early on to be independent and resourceful. I’ve been described as “quiet” and “intense,” which is probably due to my introverted nature. I don’t open up easily and I don’t trust many people with my most precious secrets. I love learning, reading, and writing, which explains my two (and counting) Masters degrees. Life took a sharp turn a few years ago when I decided to convert to Judaism. Judaism has given me a lens through which to view life in a positive way, which is important because of the depression I’ve been living with for almost two decades. I choose not to have contact with extended family and am slowly coming around to the idea that family can be made of people you’re not necessarily related to. I’m still trying to figure myself out, what I want from life, who I want to share it with. I’m a part-time teacher, even though I swore I would never teach because I disliked children. My mind is constantly whirring with thoughts, which can be annoying when I’m trying to sleep and I overanalyze pretty much everything.
