Day 155

Yesterday my mom and I went out to lunch, which isn’t uncommon but our conversation illustrated just how much the world has changed since Trump was sworn in. We were talking about all the changes and how frightening some of them are, when I told my mother that dictatorships aren’t made overnight, it’s a series of small but significant acts that enable the dictator to rise. My mother is adamant that nothing like that could ever happen because of the checks and balances and because there’s too many people protesting. I’m much more skeptical. And then the news came later that day about another terrorist attack in London.

The world is such a scary place right now.
