One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

I came home to a completely shattered window in my mom’s car. Filing an insurance claim and police report was not on my list of shitty things to happen this year. Neither was being told by the insurance adjuster that they need verbal consent from my mom to even talk to me because she is the policy holder. The other thing I did not expect was the power going out during a very windy and very cold night. I am trying to maintain hope, but it is difficult and I am exhausted.
