Day 132
I was a mikvah witness for a conversion student and her baby today. I don’t get to do it that often, but it’s one of the best parts of my job. I feel honored to be a tiny part of their Jewish journey and it’s like coming full circle, which is cool. I’m always excited to sign the conversion certificates, especially the Hebrew side since I don’t get to use my Hebrew name, Miriam Ora Tikvah bat Abraham v’ Sarah, very much. I also like to see what Hebrew names people choose. It tells you a lot about the person and how they view their Judaism. I remember when I told my mom my Hebrew name. She was a little skeptical, but once I explained the meaning, she understood. I’ve been missing her a lot this past week.
