Day 263

Last year was the first time I managed to do the 10Q, which is a really cool way to record your feelings during Rosh Hashanah and on until Yom Kippur. Getting my answers from last year was both fulfilling and somewhat anticlimactic because it feels like a lot of what I wrote last year is still applicable.

Shana Tovah!

Have you had any particularly spiritual experiences this past year? How has this experience affected you? “Spiritual” can be broadly defined to include secular spiritual experiences: artistic, cultural, and so forth.

In March 2016, I celebrated the third anniversary of my conversion in Israel, while I was travelling with JDC Entwine. It was a cool, cloudless night and as I walked with the group, I clutched my tallit wondering how three years had gone by so quickly. When I began the conversion process at Temple Emanu-El, I did not know much about Judaism or why I was suddenly so drawn to it. All I was certain of was that Temple had a place for me, with a built-in global family, which, as an only child raised by a single mother, excited me. I fell into my Jewish journey serendipitously and everything that has happened since has taken a similar path of being in the right place at just the right time.
