Day 110

Familial Dynamics

They made their way

through the terrain,

over the border.

Combining names,

two lives turned into ten

on a path from

Texas to Michigan

and back again.

Women known for their fierce independence

(some more than others),

stubbornness and street smarts.

Men known more for a lack of morals,

coddled in the way of the old country

that does not translate in the new world.

As the family expands, the ties weaken

then disintegrate with the matriarch.

A peculiar family,

on so many different paths,

yet they unite when flesh turns cold.

The family that buries together

quickly separate when the casket drops.
