On the first night of Hanukkah…
“Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.”
Anne Frank
My mother recently asked me what I wanted for Hanukkah and I honestly couldn’t think of anything, at least not anything tangible. At this moment in time, in a year marked by disheartening political rhetoric and fear, all I want is for the next year to be peaceful. The realistic, cynical side of me scoffs at such a naive, childish wish, but my idealistic side truly wishes for nothing more than that.
