I was sitting with a coworker when I heard the verdict for the Chauvin trial. I was bracing myself for the worst and when I heard “guilty,” I let out a shaky breath I didn’t know I was holding. The verdict doesn’t change the fact that George Floyd was murdered, but it’s a spark of hope. We just have to keep pushing for police accountability and work towards rooting out systemic racism.
