I often go back and forth as to whether it is wise for me to be so open about my life on the web. I do worry that anything I write may be used against me and I’ve thought about being more superficial in my writing. I haven’t always been so open; in fact, I used to guard my secrets zealously out of fear that I’d be ostracized. I learned a few years ago that being so closed wasn’t healthy for me and letting go of that fear is ultimately what led me to Temple and taking more chances.
Today I got a message from someone who thanked me for being so honest and vulnerable in my writing. And that, dear readers, is why I’ll keep being open and brutally honest in my writing.
