My mom never really talked about her time in the Air Force. When I was packing last December, I came across a group picture of her training class, which was the first photo I had ever seen of her in uniform. It feels right to share that today. She never wanted to be recognized as a veteran because she “didn’t serve in a war,” but she deserves that recognition for giving four years of her life in service to her country.
