Festival of Lights and Hope – Night Seven
Today was a lovely and leisurely day. Eliza continues to make her recovery and thoroughly enjoys playing with the new blocks her papa got her. The last few days were fraught with worry but I was reminded of how tough and resilient Eliza already is at her young age.
We decided to get dinner at Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum and it was a delight watching Eliza take in her surroundings. We sat at a table next to a window and Eliza loved watching the people go by. At one point, a man and his dog crossed the street towards us and she got so excited, laughing and pointing. He brought the dog to the window so Eliza could see him up close and the smile on her face was just breathtaking. After we finished, we went to the car wash and then came home to light the candles.
It sounds corny, but while we ate, I started thinking of “Dayenu,” one of the songs we sung during Passover.
If I only had my friends and community, that would have been enough.
If I only had Stephen, that would have been enough.
If I only had my kids, that would have been enough.
But I have all of this and more and I am so, so grateful.
